WORDS FROM THE BRIDE

What was the Inspiration for your wedding day? I grew up vacationing on Kauai with my family. It was our go-to, family vacay destination, our home away from home. While Matt and I were dating, I told Matt countless stories, shared memories, and expressed my love for that island. Finally, we planned a trip of our own there (he had never been). On that trip we got engaged, making what that island means to me even more special!!
Kauai is known as the “Garden Isle” as much of its surface is covered with lush, green, tropical rainforests. On our wedding day, we wanted our guests to be able to experience a little bit of the island that is near and dear to our hearts.

How and why did you pick your wedding venue/location?? I grew up in the private community Three Arch Bay, in Laguna Beach. I might be biased but Three Arch Bay has the most beautiful beach in Laguna. Ever since I was a little girl, it’s been a dream of mine to get married on the beach I grew up on. It’s also a place that’s special to Matt and me both. Many of our days together are and have been spent there making memories.

What special details did you include in your wedding or reception?? We asked a close family friend whom we admire and love to marry us and we wanted to share the love and strong marriages between our parents and grandparents by displaying wedding photos of our parents and photos of our grandparents.

My something blue was an aquamarine ring my grandma gave me on a past birthday. It’s a birthstone we share. My something old was a 14k gold sand dollar pendant from my other grandma, that was sown into my dress.

How did you make your wedding day special and make it about the two of you??!We both wrote letters to each other which we read prior to our first look–We decided to do a first look to make the moment more intimate and memorable for us.

Most memorable moment (s) of your wedding day? (From Groom and from Bride)

From the Bride: This is hard because I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, unforgettable day. The whole day and evening was a dream come true! But without a doubt I’d say, my dad walking me down the aisle is a moment I will cherish forever. My brother – giving a sentimental speech that brings me to tears every time I hear it in our wedding video or think of it. That moment walking down the aisle and you see all of your closest family and friends there because they love and support you. And later getting to tear it up on the dance floor with them! But the most memorable moment of all – locking eyes with my man, my soon to be husband, at the altar waiting for me to walk down the aisle.

From the Groom: The most memorable moment of all – watching my beautiful bride walk down the aisle. Celebrating our love with our closest family and friends. We had one of our favorite meals for our wedding reception dinner. In-N-Out!

What was your favorite part about the wedding planning process?Matt was always supportive of my dream for our wedding. I also loved being able to plan our wedding with my mom by my side and with a coordinator who saw my vision and I had no doubt she would make it a reality.

Any advice for those planning now? Enjoy the process! And remember that no one is going to know if something doesn’t go as planned, except those behind the scenes and maybe you. Let it all go. Soak in every moment of your special day because it goes by so fast.

How was your experience working with The DeLauras?? We couldn’t have asked for a better duo to capture our wedding day.
