If you feel called to create beyond the expected—to travel deeper, tell richer stories, and build a body of work that reflects the life you’re meant to live—join us in the Scottish Highlands. This retreat is an invitation to expand your artistry, strengthen your vision, and create work that feels as beautiful and meaningful as the places that inspire it.
Beautiful locations alone don’t create compelling imagery—connection, direction, and intention do. Throughout the retreat, we’ll pull back the curtain on how we work with couples: building trust, creating movement, and directing in a way that feels natural, elevated, and emotionally honest. From location scouting and styling to pacing the experience and crafting story-driven imagery, you’ll gain real-world insight into creating destination wedding and editorial work that feels effortless, refined, and deeply felt.
We believe travel changes us. It stretches our perspective, awakens creativity, and reconnects us to the deeper why behind our work.
Rachael Hill is a Vice President of Design & Marketing, creative director, and brand strategist specializing in fashion, product development, and editorial storytelling. With decades of experience building multi-million-dollar brands through collection design, styling, and visual marketing, her work seamlessly blends product, imagery, and story into cohesive, impactful brand worlds. Throughout her career, Rachael has helped shape and grow leading global brands, including O'Neill, Spiritual Gangster, and Wantable—bringing a sharp eye for trend forecasting, art direction, and brand development to every stage of the creative process. At the Scotland retreat, Rachael will offer photographers an inside look into the world of fashion art direction, styling, and editorial concepting—sharing how intentional imagery is built from the ground up and how those same principles can elevate fashion, lifestyle, and luxury wedding portfolios.
Kendal and Anthony, known as The DeLauras, are a husband-and-wife photography and filmmaking team based in Big Sur, California. For over 15 years, they’ve documented more than 700 weddings and over 100 destination celebrations across some of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes—from Big Sur to Italy, Greece, Bali, the Maldives, and beyond. Known for their seamless blend of editorial artistry and honest storytelling, The DeLauras create imagery that feels both elevated and deeply human—guided by a refined eye for composition, movement, and atmosphere. With years of experience building a destination-based wedding photography brand, they are passionate about helping photographers expand their vision, strengthen their portfolios, and create work that aligns with the life they want to live. This retreat is an invitation into that world—offering an inside look at their process, perspective, and the art of building a fashion and destination wedding career rooted in beauty, soul, and adventure around the globe!
This retreat was created as an invitation to step beyond the familiar—into wild landscapes, meaningful connection, and soul-expanding experiences that inspire not only the work you create, but the life you’re building.
Kendal and Rachael's creative partnership began over 20 years ago while working together in design at Billabong, where they first connected through a shared love of fashion, imagery, and visual storytelling. Their collaboration continued at O'Neill, where they worked side by side in the women's division. They started producing editorial shoots outside of work—Kendal behind the camera, with Rachael leading styling and art direction. What began as a shared creative outlet evolved into years of collaboration on campaigns for brands including O'Neill, Wantable, and Peace Love Local—blending editorial, photography, and brand storytelling across multiple industries. Now, for the first time, they’re bringing their combined experience in photography, fashion, and creative direction into one shared teaching space in Scotland—a full-circle opportunity to share what they’ve learned throughout their careers.
Airfare, transportation to and from the Scottish Highlands, rental cars, and any meals enjoyed outside of the retreat estate are not included. Once the retreat begins, all scheduled experiences and estate-hosted meals are covered. Travel arrangements are booked independently, though we’re happy to offer guidance and recommendations to help make your journey as smooth as possible. We recommend bringing additional spending money for dining out, drinks, and any personal shopping during your travels.
We recommend flying into Inverness Airport (INV), the closest and most convenient airport to our retreat location in the Highlands. Most travelers will connect through major hubs such as London Heathrow, Gatwick, or Amsterdam before arriving in Inverness.
We recommend arriving on Sunday, July 12, and departing late Friday, July 17. For those looking to extend their travels, Scotland is the perfect starting point for a longer European adventure. Alternatively, Edinburgh Airport is another option, with approximately a 3-hour drive north to the Highlands.
A valid passport is required for travel to Scotland. Depending on your country of residence, you will also be required to obtain a UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) or other travel authorization prior to departure. Please review your travel requirements before booking, as refunds cannot be issued for cancellations related to passport, visa, or travel documentation issues.
We welcome plus-ones—whether a partner, friend, or creative companion—to join you for the retreat experience. As a husband-and-wife team, we know firsthand how meaningful shared travel can be. Guest rates are available. Please inquire directly for pricing and availability.
This retreat is designed for photographers inspired by cinematic storytelling, destination imagery, and editorial artistry. Whether you photograph weddings, fashion, couples, or lifestyle work, the experience is intended for those looking to expand creatively and build a more intentional body of work.
Our retreat accommodations will be hosted at a private Highlands estate thoughtfully selected for its character, comfort, and proximity to our editorial locations. Both shared rooms and limited private options will be available. We’ve intentionally kept accommodations flexible, allowing you to choose the room style and investment level that best align with your travel preferences and experience.
Designed around the wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands, our editorial shoots will blend refined styling, authentic connection, and cinematic landscapes to create elevated, atmospheric imagery. Each photographer will have dedicated shooting time with our couple and models, while The DeLauras offer hands-on guidance in direction, movement, and storytelling throughout the experience.
Photographers with a working understanding of their camera and creative process will benefit most from the experience. Whether you just launched your photography business, are refining your portfolio, or looking to expand into destination and editorial work, the retreat is designed to support growth at multiple stages.
