Paul and Christina were married on a rainy Friday afternoon in Palm Desert. I am sure when they picked their 5.15.15 wedding date in the Desert they thought they were safe from anything but piping hot weather, and yet they were granted rain! The rain was soft, quiet, and almost somber. The much needed water drenched the desert earth that morning as Christina and Paul prepared for the day they had been planning for the past year.
People always say that if it rains on your wedding day it will bring you good luck; I don’t know if that is true or not, but rain on your wedding day means overcast skies and renewed plants and flowers that are now bright and fresh in color. Rain might be a bride’s nightmare but a photographer’s dream.
Ohhh the colors and the lighting–it is pure magic.
The couple was married in an adorable chapel amongst 100 of their closest family and friends. During the ceremony the rain continued, softly hitting the roof making sounds like quiet clapping throughout the Church. It was as if the rain was applauding the union.
Paul and Christina said their I-Dos and walked down the isle hand and hand radiating with love. They smiled, both of their dreams coming true as they were now man and wife.
The rain started to clear as we headed back to Ironwood Country Club for the reception, I silently prayed that the rain would hold so that we could take their bridal photos out in the tall grasses of the golf course. The skies cleared, and we got the most stunning photos of the couple bathed in beautifully diffused light and colors so rich it is what photographers dream about.
It was a magical rainy Palm Springs wedding….. Cheers to Paul and Christina I wish you all the luck and love in the world and a little extra luck from the ‘rain’!
The breathtaking wedding at Alila Ventana Inn was artfully captured using a vintage Super 8 film camera, adding an enchanting touch of nostalgia to the timeless memories.
