Sierra + Nick | Big Sur Engagement Session

Some love stories just feel effortless. The kind filled with laughter, adventure, a little friendly competition, and two people who genuinely love doing life together. Sierra and Nick are exactly that kind of couple, and we absolutely adore them! These two beautiful humans met in college, and it’s easy to see why they make such an incredible pair. Sierra has her doctorate in History, Nick is an engineer working at Boeing, and between the two of them, there’s no shortage of intelligence, wit, or wonderfully entertaining conversation. They’re both incredibly tall, ridiculously good-looking, and have some of the most incredible hair we’ve ever photographed. Seriously, these two were made for the camera!

But beyond their striking looks, it’s their personalities that make them so special. They’re thoughtful, kind, hilarious, adventurous, and just so much fun to be around. They share a love for golfing, long days at the beach, delicious food, and a weekly trivia night where their team seems to win just about every single week. Beauty AND brains, these two!

Originally from the Midwest, Sierra and Nick made their way west a few years ago, settling into life along the beautiful Monterey Peninsula. And we couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to capture this chapter of their love story than along the wild, windswept coastline of Big Sur. For their fall engagement session, we met at one of our absolute favorite places, Garrapata State Beach. The coastline was glowing in the most beautiful golden autumn light, with the rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and Pacific Ocean creating a landscape that felt almost otherworldly.

Sierra wore the most stunning autumn-colored dress, which couldn’t have been more perfect against the warm coastal grasses and golden light. Her striking red hair caught the sunshine in the most magical way, and together with Nick, the two of them looked like they had stepped straight out of an editorial. We wandered along the cliffs, chased the last of the afternoon sunshine, laughed our way through the coastal trails, and soaked up every bit of that beautiful Big Sur magic. The light was warm, the landscape was breathtaking, and the love between these two was so beautifully apparent in every little moment.

And perhaps one of our favorite parts of this entire experience is that our time with Sierra and Nick didn’t end when we put our cameras away. Since their engagement session, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know them beyond the photographs, spending time together golfing, going out for delicious dinners, swapping travel stories, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. It’s one of the things we cherish most about what we do: the beautiful friendships that grow from the love stories we’re invited to capture.

And now, the day we’ve all been looking forward to is finally here!

Today, we get to celebrate Sierra and Nick as they say their vows at The Village in Big Sur, surrounded by the landscape they’ve come to love and the people who mean the most to them. Sierra and Nick, we couldn’t be more excited for you two! We feel so lucky that our paths crossed, that we’ve gotten to know the wonderful humans you are, and that we get to document this next beautiful chapter of your story.
