Elopement at Post Ranch Inn

Big Sur, California

Every time Laura and Steele started talking or making plans for a big wedding it just didn’t feel quite right, so after taking the time to truly think about their wedding vision, they realized that what they really wanted was just to be married. Having been together for 15 years (yes we said 15 years!), Laura and Steele wanted their wedding day to be focused on each other and the commitment they were making. They made the decision to elope at Post Ranch in Big Sur just about 8 weeks before they actually got married!!!

Even though Laura and Steele were eloping, they still wanted the day to be special and memorable. Laura was inspired by a photo she had found on Instagram of a flower teepee that wedding planners and florist Blue Daphne had created and instantly fell in love. She reached out Blue Daphne for her wedding planning needs and they handled the rest! seriously EVERYTHING! (SIDE NOTE: Laura was particularly impressed by an online tool that Blue Daphne has that shows are a bunch of styled pictures to choose from resulting in telling you your wedding style :))

The ceremony was the most special part for Laura and Steele—Soaring, the officiant had asked the couple both questions privately about each other. Hearing Steele’s responses and seeing his face was so heartwarming to Laura. This was one of the most magical parts about eloping because they were able to be truly comfortable with one another and truly share their hearts with each other. Steele’s favorite moment from the day was watching Laura walk down the grassy hillside ‘the isle’ towards him.

FROM THE COUPLE: We had such a fabulous experience working with Anthony and Kendal! We couldn’t be happier having worked with The DeLauras–we enjoyed having them be part of our special day! I (Laura, speaking) really don’t like attention, but The DeLauras made me feel special and I immediately felt comfortable with them. We enjoyed having Kendal and Anthony there with us through the day; they are both so fun and really shared in our excitement!

ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES ELOPING: Hire The DeLauras, duh! And hire a wedding planner even if it’s an elopement; it’s your wedding day (regardless if it’s big 150+ guests of JUST the TWO of YOU) It is a pretty amazing feeling to NOT have to do anything or worry any details at all throughout the day.
