KARISSA + MIKE | LAGUNA BEACH | ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

When talking to Karissa and Mike about their dream wedding day the couple told me how they wanted a ‘Lord of the Rings’ inspired wedding; lush greenery, sprawling vines and an enchanted woodland scene was to set the stage. They want their guests to feel as though they are lost in forest filled with love, wonder and magic!

I knew right off the bat where I wanted to take Karissa and Mike for their engagement photos! The day before our skype meeting I was driving around Laguna Beach and noticed how the recent rain had transformed the dead of winter of the Laguna Canyon into this jungle of greenery! I spoke of these fleeting days of mystifying greenery and so the couple made the 2 hour trip from Simi Valley to meet with me!

Often times the bride does 95% of the wedding planning including researching and finding the right photographer, in the case of Mike and Karissa, Mike was in charge. When he and Karissa first discovered my work they were blown away by the images that they saw and so Mike set up a meeting for the couple to meet with me. After telling me a little bit about their love story Mike told me that all he wanted to do was to find a photographer that would put the couple at ease and make Karissa feel BEAUTIFUL on her wedding day. In Mike’s mind, the most important thing to him was that his bride feel as beautiful as she looked through his eyes. Mike adores his bride Karissa; it is evident in the way that he looks at her. He is romantic, thoughtful, considerate and all together passionate about this stunning woman that will stand next to him for the rest of his life.

I (the groom) hate getting my picture taken but she made it a very fun and enjoyable experience. My fiancé and I definitely left with smiles on our faces. I feel so honored to be able to capture Mike and Karissa’s love story. Their love is the kind of love that moves you, gives you the chills and all together makes you feel privileged to have been witness to it!
