NIKKI + DAVID | LELAND STANFORD MANSION + CAPITAL BUILDING| SACRAMENTO ENGAGEMENT

Nikki and David wanted to do something a little ‘out of the box’ for their engagement shoot! Nikki’s vision was something along the lines of tv series, The Vampire Diaries, complete with historic mansions, jaw dropping interiors and stunning landscapes.  She saw herself in amazing ball gowns while David is dressed in black tie walking towards one another down cascading stairways!

The couple grew up in Sacramento and wanted their engagement shoot to be in and around their hometown and so they flew me down to from Laguna Beach to Sacramento over Valentines weekend for the shoot! Nikki originally wanted to do the entire engagement session at the Leland Stanford Mansion, but we we were only allowed to photograph the exterior of the beautiful building. Knowing that the exterior was only half of the puzzle, Nikki set out to find the perfect interior… a friend mentioned shooting in the Rotunda of the Capital Building as it has a similar motif as the historic mansion and so off we went.

Nikki and David danced around the capital building, running up and down staircases finding little nooks and crannies to steal a kiss or two in..  it was the perfect puzzle piece to complete for their engagement ‘story’! We ended the day shooting the last rays of light in the park adjacent to the Capital building!!

I had so much fun photographing Nikki and David and their love story and I can’t wait for their wedding in Monterey this Fall! Nikki and David were so easy to photograph and their engagement shoot was unlike any other; it won’t be a shoot that I will soon forget!
